For the assignment brief I was given, I decided to present my final work in two short 10 second videos that fly through the 2 3D rooms I modelled. I believe that using a blog to keep all my work as if I had used a CD/USB they can be easily broken or lost and then that’s all the work lost, whereas with a blog it is all online and can be easily accessed.
There were some constraints and constrictions to what I could and couldn’t do in the end but I felt that I did the best I could. Overall I believe I could have done more if things such as the time frame I had to complete the project were longer and the software was working correctly from the start.
The main obstacle I had was that the 3D modelling software I used, Light wave, would persistently freeze and crash without a reason so that defiantly slowed down my work pace by a considerable amount. Sometimes it would crash and not let me do anything with the computer for a full lesson. Another constraint was the time I had was that I only had 5 hours a week of lesson time when I could actually use Light wave. This was a problem as if it crashed for an hour then I would only have 4 hours in that specific week which was obviously an obstacle I had to overcome. Another thing that took time to get around was the fact that I didn’t know how to use the Light wave software so I took a few weeks to complete a few tutorials. This benefited my work greatly but I do feel that I spent a few too many days completing the tutorials. In the future I believe I would work a lot faster and also wouldn’t need to do the tutorials again so I believe that would give me more time to complete it.
I believe my strengths on this project were that once I had completed the tutorials I knew what I had to do in Light wave and I didn’t need to learn anything else and could start and finish the work easily. Another strength, I believe, was that I once I had started working, and if Light wave was working properly, I worked quite well and got everything I needed to do completed. This happened more towards the end of the project as I knew that I needed to complete the work for a certain deadline.
My weaknesses of this project are that when I was working on Light wave, if and when it crashed I would get distracted and then end up doing something else and overall wasting a bit of time when I could have been working. In the future I believe I wouldn’t waste any time because now I know how tight the time constraints really are and I needed to always be working. Another weakness of me on this project is that when working at the start of the project, I didn’t really think too much about when the deadline was and didn’t realise that I check how much work I had to do and when I had to do it for. In the future I would defiantly look ahead to what work I have that I still need to complete before it gets too late in the project and I have to hurry to get some of the work done.
